Knickers for the Needy

We fundraise for the purchase of packs of underwear in a variety of sizes.

We donate most of these packs to Hestia Rodney Women's Refuge New Zealand

We also donate some of these to the North Shore Women's Centre in Glenfield for distribution to some of their clients.

We do this with financial support from Soroptimist International San Diego, one of our Friendship Link Clubs, and with purchasing support from The Warehouse – Glenfield Mall.

This project enables others to provide donations to

sponsor packs of underwear.

International Women’s Day

In partnership with Graduate Women North Shore and Zonta, the three organisations plan and organise the Annual International Women’s Breakfast held each year on 8 March, the day of our club anniversary, to celebrate this day.

Funds raised contribute to UNWomenNZ fundraising for their specific Pacific Projects. Usually this breakfast raises around $1,000 NZ each year.

Walk The Talk

The International Programme of drawing attention to the high rate of Domestic Violence.

This is done by all parts of the world in the last weeks of November and early December each year.

Our 2017 Walk The Talk Event took place on the 26th of November in partnership with Les Mills Takapuna, I Love TakapunaThe North Shore Family Violence Prevention Network and the Takapuna Community Hub. Watch out for photos and videos soon!

Scholarships

We fundraise to contribute annually to the capital fund of our NZ Scholarship Fund – the Betty Loughhead Soroptimist Scholarship Fund.

The Capital Fund now stands at around $250,000 and the interest is used to give scholarships to women over the age of 25 who apply to return to educational programmes to improve their economic wellbeing in the future.

Since its establishment in the late 1980s the Fund has disbursed over $168,000 in scholarships to women who have applied.

Betty Loughhead was the first NZ Soroptimist member to become International President.

Project Uplift

We collect barely used bras from our network of women and their friends to pack into sizes and donate these to the Hestia Rodney Women's Refuge New Zealand for new arrivals.

We move our collection box around some of our

local libraries to collect these items.

Toiletry Bags

We fundraise throughout the year to put together toiletry bags for women in need including essential items. We donate these to the Hestia Rodney Women's Refuge New Zealand for new arrivals.

We also enable others to provide donations to sponsor filled toilet bags.
