Soroptimist International is a Global Voice for Women working through Awareness, Advocacy and Action
to Educate, Enable and Empower women to promote human rights for all, equality, development and peace. Soroptimist International works together with other non-government organisations (NGOs) and various United Nations agencies to bring about changes to make the world a better place for this and future generations.
Awareness is the necessary first step: to identify a problem or need, then to inform others in the larger community to gain as much support as possible. Awareness leads to Action to rectify the problem, which sometimes requires Advocacy, the actual changing of laws to mandate the needed change. At Soroptimist International North Shore, we function in all three roles.
However, most of Soroptimist International North Shore's activity is in our local community.
In our wider Club work we reach out to other Clubs in our Region (Soroptimist International New Zealand Central), our Federation (Soroptimist International of South West Pacific),
and Internationally (Soroptimist International-SI).
